American Eels Dying In Lake Champlain And Officials Don’t Know Why

Officials in Vermont do not know why American eels are dying and washing ashore on Lake Champlain. There are some guesses; invasive nematodes affected eels in the southeast, and could be the problem in Vermont. The eels are very decomposed by the time they are found, so it’s been difficult determining what killed them.
